Derelict Vehicles
The owner or occupant of a property must not keep vehicles that are considered derelict and may become a safety hazard or public nuisance.

What is considered a derelict vehicle?
A vehicle is considered derelict if:
- not in operational condition AND
- wrecked or partly wrecked, rusted or dismantled or partly dismantled
- not insured and registered under The Highway Traffic Act and does not have a current, valid license plate attached to it
- left outside a building for more than one month

How do I complain about a derelict vehicle or auto parts on a property?
Contact the City at 311 to register a complaint.
What happens if a vehicle is deemed derelict?
- The City will issue an order to have the derelict vehicle removed. The order may be appealed.
- The City will remove derelict vehicles on expiry of the order.
