If I take an injured stray dog to a vet, will they charge me?
You must inquire with the veterinary clinic where you are taking the animal if they will charge you for treating a stray dog or you can contact the Winnipeg Humane Society at 982-2025 for instructions on where an injured dog can be taken.
Can I bury a dead animal on my property?
Yes. You must insure the animal is buried at a sufficient depth to eliminate odor and discourage attracting other animals.
Can I put dead animals out for regular garbage collection?
Yes. The animal should be securely double bagged..
My family pet died. Will the City come and pick it up?
No. The disposal of personally owned animals is the responsibility of the animal owner. Consult your yellow pages under Pet Cemeteries, Crematories & Supplies for further information.
I have found an injured bird. What should I do with it?
Contact the Winnipeg Humane Society at 982-2025 or the Prairie Wildlife Rehabilitation Organization (PWRC) at (204) 510-1855
I found a dead crow. What should I do with it? I’m concerned about West Nile.
You can dispose of the dead crow in the garbage.
