Candidate Information COUNCIL AND SCHOOL DIVISION WARD MAPS In accordance with The City of Winnipeg Charter, a general election is conducted every four years for the Offices of Mayor, Councillor and School Trustee for those school divisions within the boundaries of the City. The Mayor is elected at large for the City of Winnipeg. The City of Winnipeg is made up of five Communities, each containing three Wards. One Councillor is elected from each of the 15 Wards. Each School Division is divided into a certain number of Wards and typically, more than one candidate is to be elected for the Office of School Trustee in their respective Wards.
