What do I do if I do not receive my 2012 Business Assessment Notice?

When can I file and pay for an appeal on my 2012 Business Assessment Notice?
You may file an appeal on your 2012 Business Assessment between November 10th and December 1st, 2011 at 4:30 pm. Appeals will NOT be accepted prior to November 10th, 2011 or after 4:30 pm on December 1st, 2011.
Do I have to pay the fee at the same time that I file an appeal?
Yes, the payment must accompany the appeal filed. If payment does not accompany your appeal, your appeal will not be accepted.
When is the Board of Revision office open?
Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Is the appeal filing fee refundable?
The filing fee is refundable if your appeal is successful.
What is considered a successful appeal?
An appeal is considered to be successful and filing fees will be refunded if:
  • The assessed value of your property is reduced or
  • The Business Assessment Property Code Classification changes or
  • The Business Assessment Liability to Taxation changes
If I am successful in my appeal, when can I expect to receive a refund of my filing fee?
The refund of your filing fee will be processed within 30 days of the Board of Revision's decision with respect to your appeal being mailed out to you.
Will I receive a refund if I come to an agreement with the Assessor prior to the hearing reducing my assessment?
Yes.
Will I receive a refund if I withdraw my appeal?
No
Will I receive a refund if the decision of the Board of Revision does not change my assessed value / annual Rental Value (ARV)? (i.e. confirms my Realty / Business Assessment)
No
Will I receive a refund if I did not attend my scheduled Board of Revision hearing?
The Board of Revision may dismiss the application without a hearing in your absence. In this instance you will not receive a refund.
Can I postpone my hearing to another date?
Postponements are not generally granted. As a first level of appeal, the Board of Revision by virtue of the number of applications heard cannot accommodate individual scheduling.
Is my personal information secure?
The personal information you provide is needed to process your appeal. It is collected under the authority of clause 36(1)(a) of The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (the "Act") and the Access and Privacy Regulation. Your personal information is protected by the Act. We cannot use or disclose your personal information for other purposes unless you consent or we are authorized to do so by the Act.
