What to expect when you come to the Archives
The holdings of the City of Winnipeg Archives are available for consultation at 380 William Avenue. All research is done in the Archives' Research Room.
The Archives' Research Room is open 8:30-4:30 Monday through Friday, except for statutory holidays. Please call for an appointment so that we can better meet your needs.
Rules and Regulations
When you visit the Archives, you must abide by the Archives' rules and regulations.

Application for Research On your first visit each year, you will be asked to complete an application for research. The application form is kept on file for one year. |

Sign the Register You will be asked to sign in and out each time you visit the Archives. |

Preservation The Archives is responsible for preservation of the City's archival records. To ensure that consultation, handling, use and copying of archival materials does not subject them to unacceptable risk, the following rules apply: |

No food or drink is permitted in the Archives' Research Room. |

Pencils only are permitted for taking notes. |

Documents must be handled with care and researchers are required to wear gloves (provided) when handling archival records. |

Copyright Researchers are responsible for observing Canadian copyright law and for properly acknowledging extracts from documents. |

Citation Documents from the City of Winnipeg Archives should be cited as follows: |
