Keep cool and have fun at City of Winnipeg outdoor aquatics facilities this summer

Winnipeg, MB â Find fun in the sun this summer at Winnipeg's spray pads, outdoor pools and wading pools.

“I’m very excited that more Winnipeg spray pads will be operational this weekend,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “It’s a great way to spend a hot summer day with the kids, and we are fortunate to have so many terrific options for pools and spray pads in our city. I hope Winnipeggers will take advantage of our great facilities over the coming summer months.”

Spray Pads

The City’s unsupervised spray pads are a great way to spend a hot summer day. Some city spray pads opened on May 21 for the Victoria Day long weekend; tomorrow, all other spray pads will open for the season as well. Kildonan Park Outdoor Pool opens Friday, June 17 for the Summer 2016 season. The following City of Winnipeg outdoor pools are scheduled to open Thursday, June 30.

All non-heated outdoor pools are scheduled to open Thursday, June 30.
Back again for 2016, entry to non-heated outdoor pools will be free all summer long. Free admission is available at the following outdoor pools (public admission entry requirements and capacity restrictions apply):

Wading Pools

16 of the City’s wading pools will open on Friday, July 1 for the season â just in time to celebrate Canada Day. The remaining locations will open Saturday, July 2, according to their operating schedules. For operating schedules and more information on wading pools, please visit City of Winnipeg â Wading Pools or contact 311, available by phone at 311, or by email at . Operating hours vary by wading pool; however, most are open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

North Winnipeg Antenna System Project Public Information Session

Winnipeg, MB â Winnipeggers are invited to an information session about the North Winnipeg Antenna System Project.

The City of Winnipeg must remove an existing antenna system, used by a number of City departments, located at the North End Water Pollution Control Centre (2230 Main Street), before the end of the year to accommodate the future expansion of the North End Water Pollution Control Centre scheduled to begin in 2017.

To ensure there are no gaps in coverage, a proposed antenna system must be built in the vicinity of the existing antenna system by the end of 2016, and prior to its decommissioning. A proposed, lower, 120 metre tall antenna system will be constructed, pending Industry Canada approval of the City’s proposal.

Nearby City-owned property at the south east corner of Murray Avenue and Ferrier Street is being proposed as the location for the installation of the proposed antenna system.

Hemson Consulting Ltd. Selected to Prepare a Growth Study for the City of Winnipeg

Winnipeg, MB â Today, Hemson Consulting Ltd. was awarded the contract to conduct a growth study for the City of Winnipeg.

The City of Winnipeg has gone through a period of growth that has impacted the City’s operating and capital costs and revenues. As such, the City is looking to determine the relationship between growth-related costs and revenues.

TheâCity is asking Hemson Consulting Ltd. to conduct industry consultation, provide an analysis of best practices across other municipalities, and an exploration of growth-related costs and revenues. Depending on the outcome of the study, the consultant will be requested to provide recommendations regarding financial mechanisms that would best serve in supporting growth management and implementation options.

Hemson Consulting Ltd. will be expected to deliver a final report on August 31, 2016.
