Winnipeg Transit will be the Designated Driver for 10,000 Winnipeggers on New Year’s Eve

Molson and the City of Winnipeg want to ensure New Year’s Eve revellers get home safely by offering free transit service starting at 7:00 p.m. on December 31, 2008. Molson and Winnipeg Transit are hoping the free fare initiative will encourage everyone to make responsible choices during the holidays and throughout the year. WINNIPEG - December 30, 2008 - Molson and the City of Winnipeg want to ensure New Year’s Eve revellers get home safely by offering free transit service starting at 7:00 p.m. on December 31, 2008. Molson and Winnipeg Transit are hoping the free fare initiative will encourage everyone to make responsible choices during the holidays and throughout the year.

The free rides apply to all Regular and Handi-Transit service starting at 7:00 p.m. on December 31, 2008, and continue until end of service. (Last buses leave downtown at 1:38 a.m.)

Winnipeg Transit’s Information Centre will operate until 2 a.m. to provide transit route and schedule information. Call 311.

Winnipeg Transit expects approximately 10,000 Winnipeggers will take advantage of this free offer on New Year’s Eve.
