WINNIPEG - December 11, 2008 – The Millennium Library is delighted to ring in the Holiday Season with a week-long series of free lunch-time concerts. Commencing on Monday, December 15, 2008, half-hour performances will get underway every day at 12:10 p.m. in the lobby of the library at 251 Donald Street. The public is invited to sit back and enjoy a wonderful variety of live music from Winnipeg school choirs and ensembles – perhaps with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate from the Human Bean located by the library’s main floor entrance.
Throughout the week, the Millennium Library will be collecting non-perishable food items for Winnipeg Harvest.
Monday, December 15
Collège Jeanne Sauvé Choir: This bilingual choir from St. Vital is still flying high after backing up Kenny Rogers at the MTS Centre last month.
Tuesday, December 16
Sister MacNamara School Choir: This large inner city choir is comprised of Grade 4, 5, and 6 students under the musical direction of Paula Walker.
Wednesday, December 17
West Kildonan Collegiate Chamber Ensemble: Brass and woodwind musicians fresh from performing in their school’s production of The Wizard of Oz.
Thursday, December 18
Louis Riel Divisional Treble Choir: This large bilingual choir has performed with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and sung for the North American premiere of The Lord of the Rings.
Friday, December 19
Sisler High School Choir: Dedicated young musicians from Winnipeg’s largest high school, ranked by Maclean’s Magazine as one of the top ten high schools in Canada.
