WINNIPEG - November 21, 2008 – The public is advised that Young Street will be converted to a one-way street northbound between Portage Avenue and Ellice Avenue effective Saturday, November 22, 2008.

The change to one-way northbound in this block supports the operation of the new Transit loop road recently constructed between Young Street and Spence Street by the University of Winnipeg.

Assiniboine Park Zoo welcomes visitors to attend a tribute to Debby the Polar Bear

The Assiniboine Park Zoo welcomes visitors to attend a tribute to our polar bear, Debby, who died Monday, November 17, 2008. The tribute will be held Saturday, November 22, 2008, from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Animal Tracks Café. (for more details, please read the full media release below)

WINNIPEG - November 21, 2008 – The Assiniboine Park Zoo welcomes visitors to attend a tribute to our polar bear, Debby, who died Monday, November 17, 2008.

The tribute will be held Saturday, November 22, 2008, from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Animal Tracks Café.  Debby’s life will be celebrated through photos, memories and brief presentations by Debby’s Zoo Keepers. 

Visitors are asked to refrain from leaving flowers; those wishing will be able to show their respect by signing a Debby Banner, and are invited to contribute to a Polar Bear Conservation Fund in tribute to Debby. 

Admission to the Assiniboine Park Zoo will be free between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to accommodate visitors’ attendance at Debby’s tribute.
