WINNIPEG - May 27, 2008 – The City of Winnipeg’s Public Works Department will be conducting a controlled burn at Living Prairie Museum on Ness Avenue between Tuesday, May 27, 2008 to Friday, May 30, 2008, weather conditions permitting.

The controlled burn will be conducted in minimal wind conditions with appropriate fire guards in place.

Controlled burns have been safely conducted by the Naturalist Services Branch on Winnipeg’s tall grass prairie since 1986 and play a role in the preservation and restoration of prairies, preventing weeds from invading endangered plant communities.
