WINNIPEG - May 2, 2008 – The City’s annual lane line painting program commences on Monday, May 5, 2008.

Throughout the summer, crews will line over 1,000 kilometres of roadway, 600 signalized intersections, 150 pedestrian corridors, and 400 crosswalks. Lines on major routes will be painted two or more times during the program.

In total approximately 81,000 liters of paint mixed with roughly 24,000 kilograms of glass beads will be applied to the roadways. The glass beads improve reflectivity of the painted lines.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution when approaching City personnel and painting machinery.
