City-wide plowing of back lanes to commence

The public is advised that a City-wide plowing operation will commence in back lanes on Monday, January 7, 2008 at 7 a.m. and will continue until completed. The City of Winnipeg encourages the public to use extreme caution when approaching or driving near any snow clearing equipment.

MEDIA RELEASE:

WINNIPEG January 04, 2008 - The public is advised that a City-wide plowing operation will commence in back lanes on Monday, January 7, 2008 at 7 a.m. and will continue until completed. Plowing back lanes is required to improve conditions due to drifting snow earlier this week and warmer-than-normal temperatures predicted for the weekend.

It is expected these plowing activities will be completed in about three days and will cost approximately $150,000.

The City of Winnipeg encourages the public to use extreme caution when approaching or driving near any snow clearing equipment.

Plowing operations commenced in accordance with the Council approved Snow and Ice Control policy. Please see City of Winnipeg Snow Clearing Policy for further information.
