Roadway bike paths to open

The City’s four popular roadway bike paths will open for the season on Sunday, May 6, 2007. Bill Larkin, Director of Public Works, reminds motorists that local traffic only is permitted on these roadways when the bike paths are in operation and urges those motorists to be vigilant in watching for cyclists and pedestrians on the roadway.

WINNIPEG May 04, 2007 - The City’s four popular roadway bike paths will open for the season on Sunday, May 6, 2007.

The paths (detailed below) located on Wellington Crescent, Wolesely Avenue, Scotia Street, and Lyndale Drive will be closed to vehicular through traffic from approximately 08:00 a.m. to dusk, every Sunday and Statutory Holiday until early October.

Bill Larkin, Director of Public Works, reminds motorists that local traffic only is permitted on these roadways when the bike paths are in operation and urges those motorists to be vigilant in watching for cyclists and pedestrians on the roadway. Similarly pedestrians and cyclists must be alert to local vehicular traffic.

Bike Paths:

  • Wellington Crescent - between Academy just west of Maryland Bridge to Academy just east of Beaverbrook.
  • Wolesely Avenue - from Raglan Road to Maryland.
  • Lyndale Drive – Entire Length
  • Scotia Street Area – from Anderson at St. Johns south to St. Cross, north to Cathedral, east to Scotia, north to Forrest, west to Ord and north to Newton.
