Annual Snow Route Overnight Parking Ban commences Friday, December 1, 2006
WINNIPEG - November 30, 2006 - The City's annual Snow Route Overnight Parking Ban will take effect at 2:00 a.m., Friday, December 1, 2006. The public is reminded that if they park a vehicle on a street designated as a Snow Route, that vehicle must be moved by 2:00 a.m. Friday morning.

City undertaking major snow clearing operations
WINNIPEG - November 29, 2006 - The City continues with snow clearing operations in the wake of today's significant snowfall. A Major Snowfall Parking Ban has been declared effective midnight tonight. This ban prohibits parking between midnight and 6:00 a.m. on all designated Snow Routes. Residents are reminded that any vehicles parked on designated Snow Routes during the prohibited hours are subject to being ticketed and towed at the owner's expense. The Major Snowfall Parking Ban will be lifted effective 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning (Wednesday, November 29, 2006).

Nelson Karpa Appointed City Assessor
WINNIPEG - November 24, 2006 - Annitta L. Stenning, Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Winnipeg, today announced that Mr. Nelson Karpa has been appointed City Assessor with the City's Property Assessment Department.

'Tis the season: City Hall Christmas tree goes up this week
WINNIPEG - November 20, 2006 - Today at 1:00 p.m., The City of Winnipeg continued the tradition of moving a citizen-donated Christmas tree to City Hall. A crane will be used to position the tree in front of City Hall on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. A forestry crew will then spend several days decorating the tree with over 7,000 lights.

New Fire Paramedic Station to serve Transcona
WINNIPEG - November 16, 2006 - Mayor Sam Katz, Councillor Russ Wyatt (Transcona) and Councillor Gord Steeves took part in a ceremony today announcing the construction of the new West Transcona Fire Paramedic Station #21 at 1446 Regent Avenue at Starlight Drive. The project will be completed in June 2007.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service joins rural ambulances in Operation Christmas Child
WINNIPEG - November 15, 2006 - On Friday, November 17, 2006, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) will be participating in Operation Christmas Child, a program aimed at bringing joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes. Three spare WFPS units — two ambulances and a Multiple Incident Response Vehicle — will be staffed by off-duty paramedics, and will join with rural ambulance services in collecting shoeboxes filled with toys, schools supplies, hygiene items and small gifts, destined for underprivileged children worldwide suffering the effects of poverty, sickness, war or natural disaster.

WINNIPEG - November 15, 2006 - The City of Winnipeg advises that the Sherbrook Pool will be closed to the public on Saturday, November 18, 2006 to provide a preparatory and warm-up station for participants in the Manitoba Hydro Grey Cup Parade.

WINNIPEG - November 6, 2006 - Effective today, citizens seeking information with respect to food establishments convicted of food handling infractions or closed for insanitary conditions can find that information online at Winnipeg.ca/diners. Information regarding closures and convictions of individual food establishments will be maintained on the Web page for a period of one year after the conviction or lifting of the closure.
