Zoo's eagles breed in their senior years
WINNIPEG - August 10, 2006 - A pair of Bald Eagles, at least 38 years old, and perhaps in their early 40s, has surprised Zoo staff by producing a healthy chick. A female Golden Eagle at the Zoo also bred recently at the remarkable age of 36 years. These are additional instances of the Zoo's animals achieving longevity and breeding records, likely the result of exceptional genetics and special care offered by the Zookeeping and Veterinary Staff.
