Cancellation of Public Hearing

The City of Winnipeg’s Public Hearing on the proposed new Zoning By-law, scheduled for Tuesday July 18, 2006 has been cancelled. Feedback from stakeholders has indicated that given the comprehensive changes to the By-Law, additional time would provide an opportunity for further consultation and allow the By-law to be more fully embraced by the community.

MEDIA RELEASE:

WINNIPEG July 14, 2006 - The City of Winnipeg’s Public Hearing on the proposed new Zoning By-law, scheduled for Tuesday July 18, 2006 has been cancelled.

The City’s stated goals for the revision of the existing By-law are to make it align better with Plan Winnipeg, to simplify and create a more user friendly By-law, and to make it more responsive to business and community needs. Feedback from stakeholders has indicated that given the comprehensive changes to the By-Law, additional time would provide an opportunity for further consultation and allow the By-law to be more fully embraced by the community.

The proposed Winnipeg Zoning By-law covers all areas of the City with the exception of the downtown which is already covered by the Downtown Winnipeg Zoning By-law.
