Operating hours for City facilities, July long weekend

The following operating hours will be in effect over the July long weekend for all City of Winnipeg facilities.

City of Winnipeg Offices: All civic offices are closed Sat, July 1 and Mon, July 3, 2006
Property Taxes Reminder: Property Tax Payment deadline date is Fri, June 30, 2006
Garbage/Recycling:

class="k85" No Recycling/Garbage Collection on Mon, July 3, 2006 -- Recycling and garbage will not be collected on the Canada Day holiday weekend Mon, July 3, 2006. Collection will resume on Tues, July 4, 2006 – Day 3 on the five-day cycle.

This affects only those homes on the 5-day collection calendar for garbage and recycling. Collection for all others (i.e., apartments) will continue as normally scheduled.

The Recycling/Garbage Collection Calendar is at the back of the MTS White Pages Phone Book and at Winnipeg.ca/waterandwaste.

Hours of operation for the Brady Road Landfill during the holiday weekend:
  Sat, July 1 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  Sun, July 2 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  Mon, July 3 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Winnipeg Transit:

Regular Service:

  • Sat, July 1, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday Schedule.
  • Mon, July 3, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Saturday Schedule.

FREE Canada Day Shuttle:

  • Sat, July 1, The Canada Day Shuttle Service will operate free of charge linking a variety of Canada Day celebration sites including Downtown, The Exchange District, The Forks, Fort Gibraltar, The French Quarter and Osborne Village.

Extra Canada Day Portage 11 Service: (Regular Fares Apply)

  • Sat, July 1, the 11 PORTAGE – ASSINIBOINE PARK – FORKS Service will run every 14 minutes beginning at Noon until 7:00 p.m. and then every 10 minutes from 7:00 p.m. until 12:15 a.m. Regular transit fares will apply.

Golf Courses:

All Municipal courses are open from dawn to dusk over the long weekend. Call now to book your tee times.

Libraries: All Libraries are closed on Sat, July 1 and Mon, July, 3, 2006.

Zoo: Open 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. daily. Free Admission for Mayor’s Family Day at the Zoo on Sat, July 1st.

Conservatory: Open 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. daily.

Swimming Pools:

All indoor pools are closed on Sat, July 1 except Pan Am Pool which will be open from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Regular hours are in effect for all indoor pools on Sun, July 2 and Mon, July 3.

Weather permitting all outdoor pools are open. Hours vary however most outdoor pools are open between 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Wading Pools:

Weather permitting, the following 16 wading pools will be open on Sat, July 1: Amherst Park, Brock Cordova Park, Bronx Park, Central Park, Dakota Water Park, Home Playground, Keenleyside Park, Kildonan Park, Machray Park, McKittrick Park, Northwood CC, Pascoe Park, Pirates Park, Provencher Park, Robert A Steen Memorial CC, and Westdale Wading Pools.

Hours vary however most are open 11:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The regular season schedule is in effect July 2. For schedule information, please call 311 for pools in the South & West Areas; 311 for pools in the City Centre Area and 311 for pools in the North & East Areas. The Wading Pool 2006 schedule is available at all indoor pools, recreation facilities and libraries and online at Winnipeg.ca.

Leisure Centres:

All Leisure Centres are closed on Saturday, July 1. Regular hours are in effect on Sunday, July, 2 and Monday, July 3, 2006. Please see the Leisure Guide or visit our Web site for Leisure Centre schedules at Winnipeg.ca.

Animal Services Agency:

Closed Sat, July 1, 2006

Open normal weekend hours on Sun, July 2, from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Open Mon, July 3 from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
