MEDIA RELEASE:

WINNIPEG May 19, 2006 - Winnipeg families will be able to visit the Assiniboine Park Zoo for free on Canada Day again this year, as Mayor Sam Katz will cover the admission costs as part of the "Mayor's Family Day at the Zoo".

“Canada Day at Assiniboine Park has become an annual Winnipeg tradition, and this is one more reason to bring your family out and celebrate our city of opportunity,” said Katz.

The Zoo first provided free admission in 2004 to mark its 75th anniversary, and last year Mayor Katz again committed to supporting a family day at the Zoo.

“We have a real jewel here in Assiniboine Park, and I want all of the families who will be coming out on Canada Day to have a chance to see the Zoo for free,” said Katz.
