Operation Clean Sweep continues
WINNIPEG - April 27, 2006 - CKY TV news aired a story that stated that Operation Clean Sweep is being "scaled back" over the summer of 2006. Mayor Katz emphatically denied that Operation Clean Sweep would be "shut down." "Operation Clean Sweep will continue year-round through 2006," Mayor Katz said. "That has been our policy throughout the year and will continue to be so."

Insect Control Branch activities continue
WINNIPEG - April 27, 2006 - The City of Winnipeg continues to carry out its aggressive larviciding control program for the upcoming nuisance mosquito control season. Interested individuals may acquire more information by contacting the City's Bugline at 311 Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by visiting the City's Insect Control Website.

Maryland Twin Bridges rehabilitation begins May 1st
WINNIPEG - April 26, 2006 - Rehabilitation of the Northbound Maryland (Sherbrook) Bridge begins on Monday, May 1st. On April 27th through the weekend, a traffic diversion will re-route northbound traffic from Academy Road onto the southbound Maryland Bridge which will accommodate two lanes of traffic in each direction. Access to all surrounding businesses and organizations and nearby parking will be maintained. Transit service will continue.

More Municipal Golf Courses open
WINNIPEG - April 20, 2006 - Windsor Park, Crescent Drive, John Blumberg, Kildonan Park and Harbour View Golf Courses are all open for play. The earliest tee times will vary each day according to overnight temperatures. To avoid frost damage, daily play will not be permitted until conditions are favorable.

City commences 2006 nuisance mosquito control activities
WINNIPEG - April 19, 2006 - The City of Winnipeg announced today the commencement of its surveillance and larviciding control activities for the upcoming nuisance mosquito control season.

Mayor Katz honours all 2006 Winnipeg Olympic Athletes
WINNIPEG - April 11, 2006 - Committed to recognizing the achievements of all the Winnipeg Olympians who participated in the 2006 Torino Olympics, Mayor Sam Katz today unveiled plans to name "Olympian Track," which will be located in the newly renovated "Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex", and announced that a North Kildonan city park will be named "Olympic Park."

WINNIPEG - April 06, 2006 - This afternoon, the Province updated its flood forecast, indicating a maximum river flow of 20.4 feet James (James Avenue Datum) within the City of Winnipeg. This is a similar peak river level as we experienced last summer, when the river rose to 20.1 feet James.
