City services information for April 14 - 18, 2006

WINNIPEG - April 10, 2006- All civic offices will be closed on Friday, April 14th and Monday, April 17th.
Additional information on city services is provided below.

Community Services

Offices:
All civic offices are closed Friday, April 14 and Monday, April 17.

Libraries:
All Libraries are closed on Friday, April 14; Sunday, April 16; and Monday, April 17. All libraries are open on Saturday, April 15.

Zoo:
Open 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 14, Saturday, April 15 and Sunday, April 16. The Zoo is open 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17.

Conservatory:
Open 9:00 am. – 8:00 pm. Daily (April 3 to September 4)

Swimming Pools:
All pools are closed on Friday, April 14 and Monday April 17 except Pan Am Pool. Pan Am Pool is open 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Regular hours of operation are in effect for all pools on Saturday, April 14. Regular opening times are in effect on Sunday, April 16 but all pools will close at 4:00 p.m.

Leisure Centres:
All Leisure Centres are closed Friday, April 14 and Monday, April 17. Regular hours of operation are in effect on Saturday April 15 and Sunday April 16.

Golf Courses:
The following golf courses opened for play earlier this week:
  • John Blumberg Golf Course - 4540 Portage Avenue, Phone: 204-983-3490
  • Harbour View Golf Course & Recreation Complex - 1867 Springfield Road, Phone: 204-222-2751
The following Municipal Golf Courses will open as course conditions allow:
  • Windsor Park Golf Course - 10 DesMeurons
  • Crescent Drive Golf Course - 781 Crescent Drive
Note to players: The earliest tee times will vary each day according to overnight temperatures. To avoid frost damage, daily play will not be permitted until conditions are favourable.

Water and Waste Department

No recycling/garbage collection over the Easter holidays

Recycling and garbage will not be collected on Good Friday, April 14, 2006 and Monday, April 16, 2006. Collection will resume on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 – Day 5 on the five-day cycle.

This affects only those homes on the 5 day collection calendar for garbage and recycling. Collection for all others (i.e., apartments) will continue as normally scheduled.

Hours of operation for the Brady Road Landfill during the Easter holiday weekend:
Friday, April 14 6:00 am – 6:00 pm
Saturday, April 15 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Sunday, April 16 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Monday, April 17 6:00 am – 6:00 pm

Winnipeg Transit

Good Friday - April 14th, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Easter Monday - April 17th, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Regular schedule except on the following routes:

  • 21 Portage Express - Reduced service during morning and afternoon rush hours
  • 25 Ness Super Express – Cancelled.
  • 41 Henderson Express – Glenway service cancelled. (All Seasons service will operate).
  • 46 Transcona Express – Cancelled.
