Assiniboine River Walk lighting temporarily removed

Light standards along the Assiniboine River Walk from the Osborne Bridge to the Main Street Bridge will be removed today in order to prevent potential damage from river ice during the spring breakup. MEDIA RELEASE:

WINNIPEG March 29, 2006 – Light standards along the Assiniboine River Walk from the Osborne Bridge to the Main Street Bridge will be removed today in order to prevent potential damage from river ice during the spring breakup.

Light standards will be replaced when conditions permit.

It is anticipated the river walk will be closed to pedestrian traffic in the near future, with the normal spring rise in the river level. Until that time, pedestrians using the walk are advised there will be no lighting along the walk during evening/night hours.
