City’s targeted fogging program expanded

WINNIPEG - JULY 13, 2005 - The Insect Control Branch continues to monitor and assess current and new surveillance data. Based on today’s analysis of surveillance data, the Insect Control Branch will be expanding fogging operations to include the following areas:

  • Southeast quadrant (Island Lakes, Windsor Park, St. Boniface, St. Vital)
  • Northwest quadrant (St. James, Assiniboia, Riverbend, Garden City, Westwood)
  • Northeast quadrant (East Kildonan, Elmwood, Transcona, North Kildonan)
  • Southwest quadrant (Fort Richmond, St. Norbert, River Heights, Fort Rouge, Fort Garry, Lindenwoods, Whyte Ridge)

Earlier today, the Insect Control Branch announced fogging operations would begin on Thursday, July 14th in City parks and cemeteries, and in the following residential areas:

  • Charleswood/Tuxedo
  • West Kildonan

The Insect Control Branch will continue to monitor surveillance data and the AFA rating on a daily basis and will re-evaluate on an on-going basis.

Notices will be issued on a daily basis, providing a minimum of eight hours advanced notification as to where fogging operations will be occurring on that given day, weather permitting.
