Volunteers needed to fill sandbags on Scotia Street and Lyndale Drive
WINNIPEG - June 30, 2005 - The City of Winnipeg has cordoned off the 200- 400 block of Scotia Street to allow for the delivery of sand for sandbagging.
Volunteers are required immediately to help fill sandbags on Scotia Street and at the Winnipeg Rowing Club, 20 Lyndale Dr.
The City will be delivering pre-filled bags on a priority basis as they become available.
As well, volunteers are needed to assist with dike construction, under the supervision of City staff.
River levels are expected to rise to 20.5 feet James Street datum by Saturday.
Public Works customer service center will remain open overnight tonight and residents requiring sandbags can call 311.
