Roadway lane lining program begins
WINNIPEG - MAY 10, 2005 - The City’s annual lane line painting program commenced this week.
Throughout the summer crews will line over 1,000 kilometres of roadway, 600 signalized intersections, 150 pedestrian corridors and 400 crosswalks. Lines on major routes will be painted two or more times during the program.
In total approximately 68,000 litres of paint mixed with roughly 22,500 kilograms of glass beads will be applied to the roadways. The glass beads improve reflectivity of the painted lines.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution when approaching painting machinery and personnel.
Cost of the painting program is approximately $360,000.
