Mayor Katz welcomes Swandel to City Hall
WINNIPEG - APRIL 27, 2005 - Joined by Mayor Katz, councillor elect for St. Norbert Justin Swandel took his oath of office and accepted an appointment to represent the Mayor and city council on the board of the Winnipeg Arts Council (WAC). Swandel also participated in his first full council meeting.
“It is both humbling and exciting to take my seat in the Chamber. I look forward to working with my colleagues at City Hall to serve the people of the St. Norbert Ward and the City at large.” said Swandel. “It also pleases me to accept the Mayor’s appointment to the WAC. It is an opportunity to ensure the arts remain a strong component of our vibrant City.”
“I am very happy to welcome a new face to the chamber,” said Mayor Katz. “Justin worked hard to win the trust of St. Norbert voters, and I know he will ensure they are well represented here at council. I am also confident that, through his appointment to the WAC board, that he will work to balance the interest of taxpayers while helping to develop effective policies to assist local artists.”
