Garbage collection behind in South Winnipeg

WINNIPEG - APRIL 21, 2005 - Garbage collection in the south area of Winnipeg is behind schedule. With the nice weather, the volume of garbage is more than double the usual amount – the average amount of garbage per house is now 44 kilograms as compared to the average of 25 kilograms.

Residents are encouraged to leave their garbage out until it is picked up. Crews will be working through the weekend. Collection may remain one to two days behind schedule into next week.

Garbage collection in the north area of the city is on schedule. Recycling collection is also on schedule.
