WINNIPEG - MARCH 24, 2005 - At the close of Nominations on Thursday, March 24, 2005 at 2:00 p.m., I accepted nominations from eight registered candidates who will be running for the Office of Councillor for the St. Norbert Ward in the Riel Community, left vacant by the resignation of Councillor John Angus on Friday, March 4, 2005.

The eight nominated candidates are: Allan Bruinooge, Pam Hayward-Remple, Marcel Laurendeau, Rick Lowey, Robert Page, Justin Swandel, Rick Thiessen and Catriona Younger.

On Thursday, April 14, 2005, eligible electors in the St. Norbert Ward will be asked to go to the polls to elect a Councillor to serve for the balance of the Council term until the next General Municipal Election in October, 2006.

To accommodate electors, an Advance Poll for the St. Norbert Ward By-Election will be conducted at:

  • City Hall, 510 Main Street - March 31, April 1, 4, 5, 6, and 7 (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
  • St. Norbert Community Centre, 3450 Pembina Highway - April 8, 9, 11, and 12 (1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.)

Eligible voters may also apply to Vote by Mail. The deadline for applying to Vote by Mail is 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005.

On April 14, By-Election Day, polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

All polling locations are accessible. Signage will be posted where necessary to indicate access entrances for persons with disabilities.
