Blue Box Recycling collection still delayed
City reminds residents to leave Blue Boxes out

WINNIPEG - May 14, 2004 - Blue box recycling collection is still delayed. Recycling collection trucks, owned and operated by International Paper Industries, were vandalized Tuesday night, putting 16 of the 23 trucks out of commission. Dan McInnis, Manager of the City's Solid Waste Services Division, says "We are asking residents to be patient and leave their blue boxes out. We are doing everything we can to get back on schedule - staff are working longer shifts and will be working Saturday."

McInnis adds, "While the trucks are being repaired, we are using every available vehicle to service blue boxes, including garbage collection trucks. Materials collected with these trucks will be taken to the processing facility and recycled."
