Deputy Mayor Vandal issues statement

WINNIPEG - March 15, 2004 - Deputy Mayor Vandal's office issued the following statement this afternoon regarding his brother Denis Vandal and the injuries he sustained on Saturday evening.

"Our family is devastated by this incident. We have complete confidence in the Winnipeg Police Service. We are confident that the investigation will be able to shed some light on what happened," said Councillor Vandal.

The Vandal family requests that the media respect their privacy during this difficult time. Councillor Vandal thanks you for your patience and understanding in keeping with the family's wishes.

Denis Vandal lives in Winnipeg with his wife. They have two grown children and one grandchild. He is 49 years of age..
