The land is located at Redwood and Fife.

The Board of Directors of the Manitoba Sikh Cultural and Seniors Inc. represents 15 organizations across Winnipeg that are partnering to raise approximately $ 3 million to build the new centre, and hope to break ground in 2003.

“This is an incredibly exciting day,” said Mayor Glen Murray. “In Winnipeg you can hear 42 different languages spoken. We are a city built by people from around the world, and as each of us settles here, it is our custom to gather in a safe and comfortable place where we can share our unique traditions. We are fortunate to count more than 12,000 Sikh’s amongst our citizens here in Winnipeg, and I strongly support this dedicated effort to create a home within a home.”

We look forward to working with all levels of government, businesses and all citizens of Winnipeg to provide a centre that will add significantly to the unique multicultural mosaic of this wonderful city.”
