September 17 Red River - Jessie Street lift station Unknown 60 minutes Water main break
  • High level alarm received at 3:30 a.m. due to large volume of drinking water draining into combined sewer from water main break on Hugo Street between Jessie and McMillan.
  • Crew arrived at 4:10 a.m. and found flow to the station exceeding pumping capacity.
  • Estimate that overflow to Red River started approximately 3:40 a.m.
  • Crew immediately began closing sluice gate on outfall pipe.
  • Gate closed and discharge of diluted raw sewage stopped at 4:40 a.m.
  • Incident reported to Manitoba Conservation, Manitoba Environmental Accident Reporting Line and Environment Canada.
February 16 Red River - Hawthorne Avenue lift station 22000 litres 20 minutes Water main break
  • High level alarm received at 3:20 a.m. due to large volume of drinking water draining into combined sewer from water main break in the 500 block of McLeod Ave.
  • Crew arrived at 3:45 a.m. and found overflow to river just starting.
  • Crew immediately began closing combined sewer outfall gate and discharge stopped at 4:05 a.m.
  • Incident reported to Manitoba Conservation, Manitoba Environmental Accident Reporting Line and Environment Canada.
January 25 Red River - Cockburn sewage pumping station 20000 litres 25 minutes Water main break
  • High level alarm received at 8 p.m. due to large volume of drinking water draining into combined sewer from major water main break at Grant Ave. and Nathaniel St.
  • Crew arrived at 8:20 p.m. and found overflow to river just beginning.
  • Crew immediately began closing gate and had it closed by 8:45 p.m.
  • Alarm ended at 10:04 p.m. and gate opened.
  • Incident reported to Manitoba Environmental Accident Reporting Line and Environment Canada.
