Residential Building Permits

Project Inspectioninspection

Obtaining a permit means that the work will be inspected by an experienced, professional City of Winnipeg Inspector to ensure that required standards are met (Manitoba Building Code, applicable zoning regulations, and Building By-law requirements). The Housing Inspections Branch of the City of Winnipeg Planning, Property and Development Department is assigned the responsibility of monitoring construction for compliance with the various Building Codes and By-laws. This monitoring is carried out by means of the permit approval process and periodic site inspections. The ultimate responsibility for compliance rests with you, the homeowner. You should notify your inspector upon completion of the rough-in work and prior to covering with drywall or other interior finishes and also at final completion. Calls for inspection will be taken from Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm. at 986-5300.
