Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service

Temporary Fire Ban Lifted

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) would like to thank all citizens of Winnipeg for their cooperation with the temporary fire ban.

Due to recent environmental conditions, the WFPS is lifting the temporary open-air fire ban for the city of Winnipeg. In addition, WFPS will resume issuing fireworks display permits and open fire permits. The WFPS will continue to enforce all permit conditions.

The WFPS would like to remind residents of the regulations regarding outdoor fire receptacles such as fire pits, fire places, and outdoor BBQs. Note that all open fires, including permitted burns and recreational fires within approved outdoor receptacles on public or private property, are not permitted when wind speed exceeds 25 km/h.

For rules regarding fires within approved outdoor fire receptacles, please consult The City of Winnipeg - Neighbourhood Liveability By-law 1/2008, part 6
